What lies beneath

This is what remains of our old subfloor. The new one is going in as I type and the guys have done a great job of getting rid of all the rubbish that was under the floor. Some of it quite strange rubbish. Now the coins I can understand slipping between the floor boards. But beer bottles and shoes?

Another Scene from the Sky (or Nice Work If You Can Get It)

I think HWSNBNITB obviously has a really hard job.
He took this photo of One Mile Beach the other day while flying past fairly fast.

Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Well, we settled on the house on Friday. We've got a few jobs to do before moving in however.

I don't know how Monster will cope as her eyesight isn't the best these days. She is turning 17 on Christmas Day, so I don't think she is doing too bad for an old girl! Actually I have a feeling that she will spend all night every night running up and down the stairs pretending to be a baby elephant instead of an elderly kitty.

View from a plane

So many people have asked me where the obelisk is (why aren't you commenting on the blog?) that todays picture is an aerial view of Newcastle. Click on the photo to enlarge it and you will see a red circle around our new house and a blue around the flat. The obelisk is sort of up a bit and left of the red circle!

Unfortunately the nature of this picture (it was taken rather high up) means it tends to flatten out the scene, so it's a bit difficult to see just how steep that darn hill really is!

Sold!

Driving pass our house we couldn't help ourselves. We had to stop and take a picture of the Sold! sign. I also thought I'd share an image of the view from the top of the hill. Actually this is the view from the obelisk over the road. This was the site of Newcastle's original water supply. There also used to be a windmill here. When it was demolished sailors were so outraged at losing the navigation point the obelisk was built.

First glimpses

He Who Shall Not Be Named In This Blog (with apologies to Meg Cabot) and I have taken the plunge and bought a house.

You can see here the view from the balcony. Well kinda, HWSNBNITB isn't the best with the camera.
