Finally the long awaited day had arrived (after booking over a year ago) and we were on the way to China. Trip-a-Deal offers some action packed bargain tours and we are looking forward to seeing many places we have longed to visit.
The problem with picking a bargain holiday though is what THEY think of as a full service airline and what WE think of as full service seems to have a significant gap.
Lunch was served but there was no choice by the time the trolley got to us. Even worse, it was a dry flight, not even a warm beer was available. In flight entertainment was also limited. I enjoyed watching Wonder, based on the book by R.L Palacio and then watched Mon chat et moi, la grande aventure de Rroû. Two tear jerkers in a row was enough and I got out my kindle for the rest of the flight!
We flew China Eastern from Sydney to Shanghai and then transfered to a domestic flight to Beijing. Late leaving Sydney we were also late arriving into Shanghai. Airline staff were on hand to hurry us through immigration and held the connection as there were many passengers on both planes.
We were due to land just after midnight but finally (after 1am) we arrived and had a long transfer to our hotel, checking in around 3am. The room looked lovely but we were to tired to do anything except turn out the light as we had a big day planned later that day.

Very classy. Right until the moment the drains blocked and it overflowed. Luckily housekeeping and security were already in the room because the safe had decided to not open with my stuff inside and they had to drill it out!
